Another Korumburra quake - here's the omen bet in the Cup
There's been another earth tremor north of Korumburra, this time measuring 2.3MLa on Monday, November 2 but maybe it has given us a pointer for the cup. See details.
THERE’S been another tremor north of Arawata, this time measuring 2.3MLa at 10.33.17am on Monday, November 2.
It’s the 14th or 15th aftershock since the big one hit on Saturday, October 3 measuring 4.9MLa.
The latest one was centred north of Arawata and west of Wild Dog Valley, in a similar area to a number of the other quakes, at a depth of 3km.
Geoscience Australia has registered 42 ‘felt’ reports but it did prompt a deal of discussion on the Korumburra Community Noticeboard Facebook page, with 60 comments, one saying “Yes, our windows were rattling” but another saying they thought it was just a truck passing.
Others in Korumburra said they didn’t feel a thing. Maybe we’re just not noticing it anymore.
Geoscience Australia Senior Seismologist Dr Hadi Ghasemi said recently he believes the shocks will continue to fade away but hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of another earthquake
“It is important to note that it is not possible to predict precisely when or how large these earthquakes may be, or when the sequence will diminish to a point where they are no longer detectable,” Dr Ghasemi said.
The omen bet in the Melbourne Cup could be a trifecta featuring 4. Middle Earth, 12. Hopewell Rock and 24. Shockletz. Good luck!
