South Gippsland Shire Council would like to extend a warm invitation to everyone in our community to attend a Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday, May 3, from 6.30pm
outside Council's main office at 9 Smith Street, Leongatha.
The Vigil, which is being held in locations across Gippsland, Victoria and Australia, has been organised to remember and honour those who have lost their lives to domestic and family violence.
In 2022, South Gippsland ranked 26 out of all 79 local government areas in Victoria for family violence rates. In real numbers, that is 528 call outs recorded by Victoria Police. These are just those who have reported.
