A TRUCK rollover incident in Lang Lang has tragically resulted in the 70 head of cattle on board euthanized. Emergency services were called to the South Gippsland Highway near Kettles Road in Lang Lang about 2am on May 26 after a truck ran off the road and tipped over.
Seven CFA units attended the incident at around 2.11am where Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on the scene. Animal Welfare attended for the cattle involved.
A number of vehicles travelling on the highway were involved in collisions with cattle before the road could be closed and police managed to lock-down the area.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed a woman in her 30s was taken to Dandenong Hospital with upper body injuries, in a stable condition, and the driver was in shock but had non-life-threating injuries.
Senior Sergent Brad Steer confirmed the weather conditions caused extreme fog and a slippery surface in the early hours of the morning and the incident is still under investigation.
CFA confirmed the units were from Lang Lang, Loch and Koo Wee Rup, and the incident was under control at 4am and deemed safe by 5am.
