From citizen of the year to an OAM

Corner Inlet’s Citizen of Year 2020, Mrs Nadia Stefani has again been recognised, this year with a Medal of the Order of Australia for her service to the community of Fish Creek.

In noting Mrs Stefani dedication to the community, a long list of services was presented including the Fish Creek Memorial Hall and Op Shop, Fish Creek Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception, Fish Creek Community Development Group, Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival, Fish Creek Football Netball Club, Fish Creek Community Garden, Wonthaggi Australian Italian Club, South Gippsland Hospital, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Fish Creek Girl Guides and Foster High School Parent’s Club.

With roles spanning from committee member to co-founder, supporter and fundraiser.

Mrs Stefani was also recognised for her services to the Fish Creek Primary School Mother’s Club during the 70s and as a board member of Mary MacKillop College Leongatha in the 80s for four years, as secretary and member of the Fish Creek Catholic Women’s League for over 20 years and her skills and service as part of the organising committee for the Fish Creek 125 years ‘Back to Celebration’ event; she is also an avid supporter of the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms Association.

Ms Stefani has for more than 20 years also organised floral arrangements for various organisations and events and in 2020 was an inaugural inductee into the Corner Inlet Gallery of Women.
