Grant funding backs the live music sector in Bass

2 min read

JORDAN Crugnale MP announced this week local Bass Coast successful recipients of the latest round of 10,000 Gigs: The Victorian Gig Fund and the Live Music Festivals Fund. A boost for musicians, bands, venues and festivals designed to strengthen the industry and the jobs and communities it supports.

The latest round of 10,000 Gigs: The Victorian Gig Fund will fund 136 venues across the state to stage paid gigs by local artists up to $22,000 each for up to 40 gigs. Local establishments include Archies Creek Hotel, Kilcunda Ocean View Hotel and Phillip Island’s Wildlife Coast Cruises.

Kilcunda Ocean View Hotel Owners Paula Doody and Brett Crellin said, "We are absolutely thrilled to hear that our live music grant application has been successful! This support will go a long way in helping us continue to bring live music to our small regional town and provide a platform for local musicians to showcase their talents. Opportunities like this make such a meaningful difference to our community, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support.”

The Live Music Festivals Fund will support 11 festivals across the state with grants of up to $50,000 to help put on new or existing events. These include music festivals, Phillip Island’s Ocean Sounds 2027 and South Gippsland’s NYE on the Hill 2026.

Member for Bass Coast Jordan Crugnale said, “We love live music, and we continue to back our local venues, musicians, creatives and festivals through these funding programs. Whilst the live music sector continues to face challenges across the country, this investment will help strengthen our local industry, champion local musical talent, showcase contemporary music which benefits creatives and our local economy too.”

In addition, more artists will have opportunities to develop their careers through Multicultural Arts Victoria’s NEWPRINT program, which is designed to support artists, producers and creative workers from culturally and linguistically diverse communities to break into the music industry and take their careers to the next level.

Live music plays a crucial role in Victoria’s creative sector, while driving jobs and the economy. This latest package will support not only the musicians on stage, but the crews behind them, as well as venue owners, hospitality staff and local businesses.
