Industrial land demand on the rise: share your thoughts on the strategy

1 min read

BASS Coast Shire Council is inviting feedback from businesses, stakeholders, and members of the community on its draft Industrial Land Use Strategy; the strategy aims to address the growing demand for industrial land in key precincts, including Cowes, Grantville, Newhaven, Inverloch, and Wonthaggi.

The engagement period ends on July 28, 2024.

The final drop-in session will be held at Berninneit, Cowes on July 19, 2024, from 10am – 3pm.

Council encourages existing, prospective, emerging operators and landowners to participate in shaping the strategy's contents. The draft strategy outlines overarching strategies, vision statements, guidelines for land use and development, and long-term expansion area plans.

"The Bass Coast Industrial Land Use Strategy is an initiative aimed at supporting employment growth and attracting investment," said Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Clare Le Serve. "Feedback from our community is critical to ensure the strategy aligns with local needs and aspirations. I encourage you to take this opportunity to provide input into this work."

The strategy builds upon feedback gathered during the consultation on the Industrial Land Use Strategy Discussion Paper earlier this year during which we heard community concerns regarding land suitability and availability.

Members of our community can engage with the draft strategy by reviewing it online and providing feedback through a survey, or by booking a consultation with the strategic planning team.

To access the draft strategy and participate in the engagement process, visit the Engage page engage.basscoast.vic.gov.au/industrialland. Feedback submissions close on July 28, 2024.

Following the engagement period, a final strategy will be developed and presented to the August Council Meeting.
