MEMBER for Bass Jordan Crugnale has detailed what’s in store for the electorate as part of the Victorian Budget 2023/24.
Take a look at some of the highlights locally:
Education
The budget will see $6.7 million for Wonthaggi Primary School and planning to upgrade San Remo Primary School.
Health
The Government has already delivered Stage 1 of the Wonthaggi Hospital expansion, with a new emergency department, three new operating theatres and a 32-bed inpatient ward now accessible to locals in Bass.
In this Budget, funds are allocated to get started on Stage 2 of the Wonthaggi Hospital redevelopment.
A new Mental Health and Wellbeing Local in Leongatha will act as a ‘front door’ to the mental health and wellbeing system offering welcoming and inclusive spaces, staffed by qualified mental health professionals, including peer support workers to cater for the local community.
Fishing
Boating infrastructure:
• $2 million to upgrade the ramp at Inverloch
• $800,000 towards the Cowes Stage 2 Jetty expansion
Fishcare Victoria’s educational programs will receive a $100,000 grant to continue promoting responsible fishing practices across Bass.
And $200,000 will go towards the Corinella Fishing Clubhouse.
Other highlights include the State Electricity Commission (SEC), with an initial $1 billion investment in the SEC will help deliver 4.5 gigawatts of power.
Free kinder will continue for three and four-year-olds, as well as establishing Pre-Prep, and upgrading or providing new equipment to kinders across the state.
