Support Services team essential to patient care

1 min read

RUNNING a public healthcare service not only takes clinical staff, but also the dedicated, hard-working, skilled and qualified members of the Support Services team.

On Support Services Recognition Day on October 29, Bass Coast Health (BCH) is acknowledging the many staff who help to provide public healthcare to you.

The BCH Support Services team includes cleaners, health service attendants and staff who work in the kitchen, café and residential aged care facilities.

They also collect waste, arrange preparation and delivery of Meals on Wheels, and make accommodation arrangements for the visiting clinicians and specialists.

There is also the Supply team, which ensures the departments have the equipment and consumables they need.

BCH director of support services Blake Carew said the team is essential to the successful operation of a public healthcare service.

“The Support Services team members are passionate about the work they do. They keep the foundation of our hospital operating, from taking patients to radiology and keeping patients’ wards clean, to preparing and serving their meals,” he said.

“While much of their work is seen and appreciated by patients and their families, their work is also behind-the-scenes and keeps our services running smoothly every day.

“We value the contribution the Support Services team makes to public healthcare locally and invite the community to thank them when they help you in any way.”
