Year 12s say goodbye with bedazzled uniforms

2 min read

BASS Coast College’s Year 12 students were given a breather from their studies to enjoy their bedazzled uniform day on Wednesday.

Around 170 students graduated from the Wonthaggi-based high school on Wednesday night, but before that, they were given the opportunity to explore their creative side and transform their uniforms.

“We’ve been planning this week for probably the last month,” McKenzie campus principal Ross Bramley said.

“We try to finish off the year with positive things, but things that don’t detract from them finishing off their classes and preparing for exams.”

On Tuesday, the students had their shirt signing day and were encouraged to bedazzle their uniforms at home to show off on Wednesday.

The class of 2024 had a wonderful final year, and the school congratulated them on their achievements.

“This is a fantastic group. We are very, very proud of this year level in particular. Right throughout their six years, they’ve been really strong contributors academically and in sport, music leadership and community involvement,” Mr Bramley said.

“We’ll be very sad to see this group go, but we wish them all the best for their exams and what they go on to do next.”

The students enjoyed many personal highlights over the year, including a team of netballers winning the state title and a student completing six years of contributions to the South Gippsland music program.

Another major highlight was the tertiary camp at the beginning of the year.

“These students were absolutely fantastic on tertiary camp,” Mr Bramley said.

“It was a great opportunity for them to open their eyes to what the world could be like for them next year and beyond.”

Year 12s celebrate amazing six years

Following on from a successful graduation evening, Bass Coast College’s Year 12 students finished off their time at the Wonthaggi-based high school with their Celebration Day.

The day was an opportunity for the graduating students to say goodbye to the rest of the student body.

The Year 10 and 11 students attended an assembly where the Year 12s were able to parade their

Celebration Day costumes and hear the last musical numbers from the Year 12 band.

This year’s student leaders gave a farewell speech before the Year 12s were dismissed for the last time.

“It was a great day, and the students really went all out this year. It shows what a cohesive group this was in so far as there were so many kids who had gotten together and dressed up as multiple characters from the same franchise. All the teachers and admin staff got involved as well by dressing up in costumes from different decades,” McKenzie campus principal Ross Bramley said.

“This is one of the most wonderful groups you would ever hope to have the opportunity to have in your school. They’ve capped off a wonderful six years and we’re very, very proud of them. We’ll miss them greatly.”

The students are now preparing for their exams, with the English exam taking place today (Tuesday, October 29).
