A LITTLE jet lagged perhaps but with plenty of fresh ideas for South Gippsland Cr Nathan Hersey landed back in Leongatha from the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona with two new buzz words for renewable energy.

Representing the region as Chair of One Gippsland Cr Hersey revealed the European Union (E.U.) has now adopted the terms energy diversification and new energy to describe renewables.

With nuclear energy a big part of the energy mix in Europe Cr Hersey said Australia was lagging behind the E.U. in the race towards energy diversification.

South Gippsland Shire endorsed Cr Hersey’s nomination to attend the Smart City Expo World Congress as council’s representative and Chair of One Gippsland.

Allowed $500 in expenses by South Gippsland Shire Cr Hersey will provide a detailed report back to South Gippsland Council on the outcomes of the Congress.
