THE scene of an accident at the intersection of Korumburra Road and Wentworth Road in Wonthaggi has been cleared after a serious incident there at about 11am this morning, Wednesday, December 21.
It is understood that a 20-year-old female driver from Leongatha has failed to give way and collided with a Mazda utility driven by a 42-year-old man from Cape Woolamai.
The male drive escaped without injury but the female drive, whose car was extensively damaged in the collision, deploying its airbags, has been taken to hospital with, reportedly, minor injuries.
Police have issued the woman with a penalty infringement notice.

Police have also issued a reminded for drivers to take care on the busy roads over the next few weeks, and to avoid distractions, such as driving while using your mobile phone which carries a penalty of 4 demerit points and a $545 fine, or worse.
