Pedestrian struck in Cowes

A MAN in his late 60s was airlifted in a stable condition to the Alfred Hospital this morning, after being hit by a car outside Aldi in Cowes.

The driver (in his 20s) was taken to Wonthaggi Hospital uninjured and for routine testing - and is assisting police with enquiries.

The male pedestrian was crossing Chapel Street about 10.30am when he was struck.

Chapel Street was closed until 12.45pm but has since reopened. 

Bass Coast Highway Patrol and Wonthaggi Police are investigating the accident and anyone with information should contact Wonthaggi Police Station on 5671 4100 or Crimestoppers.
