Fire preparation tips in Nerrena

NERRENA Fire Brigade’s volunteers are ready to help people prepare for the fire season, running a ‘Get Fire Ready’ drop-in session this Sunday October 18 between 10am and 2pm.

You’ll pick up tips on preparing your property, creating a bushfire management plan and how to make informed decisions regarding your safety.

With an expected challenging season, it’s a great time to chat to brigade members while enjoying a snag and a cuppa.

It’s important to know your risk, with every town, property and community different.

Brigade Captain Samantha Smith remarked that along with people learning what they need to do to minimise fire risks on their properties, other important requirements will be discussed such as ensuring easy access for fire trucks and having clearly visible roadside numbers.
