Fix Bass Highway potholes ahead of the MotoGP, says Aldred MP

IT’S been a busy week for the Member for Monash, Mary Aldred in the Australian Parliament.
Not only has she spent time in the Speakers’ chair, as a Member of the Speaker's Panel, and counted votes during divisions as the Opposition Whip but she has also spoken on a number of important issues including roads, prostate cancer, the plight of small business, cost of living, the security risk posed by Chinese EVs and banking and financial services.
And rounded it out at Question Time on Wednesday with the first question of the day to the Minister for Small Business, Dr Anne Aly, about when she was going to “start listening to Australians who have a go, axe Labor's toxic taxes impacting 1000s of tradies, and stop waging war on small business?”
But on Tuesday, October 13, it was all about the issue of the day locally, in Bass Coast and South Gippsland, the state of our roads.

“In just 10 days’ time we will have the MotoGP on Phillip Island for the final time because, to the great disappointment of our state, the Victorian State Labor Government has lost the MotoGP to South Australia,” said Ms Aldred.
“But in 10 days’ time we want to put on a really good show for everyone travelling to wonderful Phillip Island—and yet our local roads are in disrepair.
“We will be hosting motorbike riders from all over the state and, indeed, all over Australia. There are many motorcycle clubs that come from South Australia and other places for our great event.
“That is why the Liberal Candidate for Bass, Rochelle Halstead, and I are jointly calling on the Victorian State Government to send emergency road crews down, right now, to fix those roads.
“They are unsafe. Unfortunately, we have had a number of accidents. Tragically, we've had a motorcyclist die recently because of a pothole in Victoria.
“That is not good enough. We deserve better. Rochelle Halstead and I are calling on the State Labor Government to get its act together and fix the roads.”
More to follow.
