Breakers outclass Seaford

AFTER a couple of weeks off, the Breakers we’re keen to get back out on the field and debut their new clash jumpers.

A slow start against Seaford last time they met led to a tough contest, so the home side were keen to get on the board early, which they did through first quarter goals to Tracey Johnson and Kelly O’Neill.

With Sophie McCracken-Evans controlling the ruck contests the Breakers continued their dominance in the second quarter piling on 8 scoring shots.

Finding several avenues to goal, including through Ella Cargill, who was positioned well in front of goals and Chelsea Connell who drifted down from the backline.

Despite having most of the play in the third quarter the scoring opportunities dried up with the Breakers only able to add a single point to their tally.

However, the defensive end remained solid with Hannah Mills, Stacey Poke and Chelsea Connell always in the right position to stop any Seaford forward entries.

The Breakers regained their momentum in the last quarter.

In what was a great team effort it was pleasing to again see the younger players, including Sunday Brisbane and Tess Wingfield, having a big influence in the middle.

Ahlee Penry continued the Breakers ruck dominance in the second half, with her high work rate and second efforts rewarded with a goal.

At the final siren it was Bass Coast 7.11-67 defeating Seaford 0.1-1.

The Breakers are at home again next week to take on Pearcedale at 11am in Dalyston.
