IT’S to be praised the stand taken and comments made by the South Gippsland Shire Council in relation to the Emergency Services Levy. You can see the pride they take in opposition to the levy as a grab for money to balance the budget.
The same councillors quickly shut down discussion and stifle debate when the council action to sell the Senior Citizens Centre in Korumburra to raise money for the council comes up. Councillor John Kennedy’s attempts to raise the issue frequently are immediately shut down without explanation.
A money grab by the state government, evil, a money grab by council, good. That’s like a thief lecturing on honesty.
I suggest they take a good look in the mirror and behave in the manner they preach towards the state government. Return the Senior Citizens Centre to those who paid for it and built it, the citizens of Korumburra.
