The attacks must stop

SICK of hearing dog stories in the papers.

Why is a dangerous dog allowed to be registered domestically and what responsibility does the Council take in allowing the registration of these dogs? If your dog is not social keep it at home.

I feel for the horrific attack on the guide dog, and this has a domino effect on not only that dog that was doing its duty but on everyone most so on the person that depends on this dog to get around.

Pointless fining the owner because the Council takes the fine and nothing flows on to the community in dog education. With so many ignorant dog owners around who do not deserve dogs, more emphasis should be placed on the type of dogs registered.

How about a levy on owners that could be used to pay the costs that these attacks cause?

Why should the community have to tolerate such ignorance?

I think the Council should be taking more responsibility especially since I read that they are giving the cattery and kennel owners in Leongatha a hard time to stay open. They have more of a contribution towards the community than the irresponsible dog owners and the Council. This has to stop. We need to be able to walk the streets without having to watch out for vicious dogs and owners that do not give a damn.
