Fun for a cause in Dalyston

1 min read

PEOPLE will be Kickin’ Up for Cancer this Saturday November 15 at Dalyston Hall, OMK Cricket Club adding line dancing to its renowned fundraising efforts for the McGrath Foundation to support cancer care.

Expected mild conditions are ideal.

Everyone is welcome, from beginners to seasoned dancers, with action starting at 10.30am, the first hour being an introduction to line dancing.

The fun continues until 3.30pm, with tickets costing $20 per person and cash or card welcome.

Kickin’ Up for Cancer organiser Kate Norton, who is on the OMK Pink Stumps Day fundraising committee, took up line dancing this year, enjoying it and finding it is getting popular.

That inspired her to try something different on the fundraising front.

There’ll be guidance throughout with participants tackling the steps as a group, the music including country, pop and modern numbers.

Raffles and door prizes donated by community members and businesses add to the fun, with the major prize being a bar fridge.

“We’ve had some good interest in it,” Kate said of Saturday’s event, with that including members of the line dancing community all the way down to the Frankston and Langwarrin area.
