Grantville transfer station broken into overnight, police appealing for information

POLICE are investigating a break-in at Grantville Transfer Station at approximately 9pm on Monday evening, June 16.

It’s understood offender/s cut chains to a security fence and entered the premise.

Once inside they broke the window into an office and targeted a safe.

Bass Coast Shire Council have released a statement in regard to the break in.

Statement from Greg Box, Bass Coast Shire CEO:

We can confirm there was a break-in at the Grantville Transfer Station overnight, which caused significant damage to several buildings on-site.

Thanks to the swift action of Council staff and Victoria Police, the stolen safe was recovered and all funds have been accounted for. We are extremely grateful for the prompt response and professionalism of everyone involved.

Despite the damage, the Grantville Transfer Station remains open and operational. Some areas of the site will remain restricted while Police complete their investigation and as we begin repair works, visitors may experience minor delays or temporary changes.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work to restore full functionality.

Bass Coast CIU are appealing for anyone with information, including CCTV and dash cam footage from the area to contact 5671 4100.
