Have your say on a future vision for Phillip Island Nature Parks

1 min read

PHILLIP Island Nature Parks (PINP) oversee an area of significant environmental, cultural, and community value, as such they have developed a Strategic Plan with a 10-year horizon and are seeking  community feedback.

As land managers and tourism leaders, PINP have a responsibility to help shape a healthy and thriving environment for the island’s wildlife, the community, and for all who visit.

Under the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978 and under the Marine and Coastal Act 2018 they have obligations to fulfil and aspire for Phillip Island to have a healthy ecosystem that supports its economy and community.

The Strategic Plan  is aimed at having a positive impact on the environment, the community and the economy.

It has been developed with the help of the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation, Reconciliation Advisory Committee, Community and Environment Advisory Committee, key stakeholders, staff and volunteers.

The Phillip Island and Bass Coast community are now being invited to have their say.

There are six priorities that have been outlined and these are: Bigger and better natural areas : Working together, using a regenerative approach.

Thriving wildlife: Phillip Island (Milawul) is a sanctuary for diverse wildlife.

Bunurong self-determination: The Nature Parks will support current and future generations of Traditional Owners to care for and respect Country.

Excellence in regenerative tourism.

Support a vibrant communit; and finally: A Strong organisational foundation.

The local community are invited to share their thoughts to help shape PINP. Feeback submissions close at 5 pm Tuesday 19 August 2025.
