Korumburra Business Association ready for new challenges

1 min read

Korumburra Business Association (KBA) is ready to power on representing local business operators after a spectacularly successful special general meeting saw the organisation’s committee double in size and its previously vacant executive posts filled.

Jack Gilchrist, owner of the town’s Area Specialist Real Estate business, is excited to take on the KBA presidency.

While he was already keen to contribute to KBA, it was the cancellation of the town’s Christmas shopping night due to the organisation’s inability to fill executive positions that prompted him to put his hand up for the presidency.

“Someone’s got to do it and I’m more than happy to,” Jack said.

While he doesn’t know how the entirely new committee will compare to the previous one, the president looks forward to working with others and seeing their fresh ideas put into action to boost local businesses and the appeal of Korumburra.

“The business community needs to know that someone’s representing them,” he said of the importance of KBA continuing and thriving.

He praised the contribution of the previous committee.

“It would be such a shame to see all their hard work just go; they’ve done wonderful things, and if no one put their hand up it would all be gone,” Jack said.

Lauren Whittingham of JB Automotive Repairs has stepped into the position of KBA vice president, Robyn Van Hamond from the Old Corner Post Office is the new treasurer and Alma Morrison of Pure Fitness is now secretary.

Arborist Evan Enbom of South Gippsland Tree Care, Steven Kovacs from Orange Beacon Security & Technology, Elyse Fisher of Korumburra Middle Hotel and Burra Brewing’s Ali Smith are the other committee members.

And they've wasted no time setting the date for the town's Christmas party.
