Parks Victoria notice of works.

A POPULAR spot for locals to exercise and to take a quiet dip in the ocean, Shack Bay near Inverloch will be inaccessible during much of November and December this year.

Parks Victoria has advised that the Shack Bay Beach Access Staircase will be closed to the public from Wednesday, November 5, 2025, immediately after the Melbourne Cup Long Weekend while important refurbishment works take place.

“This project aims to improve the safety and longevity of the staircase, ensuring it remains a secure and accessible way to reach the beach for many years to come,” said Parks Victoria.

  • Closure period: From November 5, 2025 reopening “no later than” December 22, 2025
  • Access: Closed to the public during construction
  • Purpose: Safety upgrades and long-term maintenance

“We appreciate everyone’s patience while these essential works are completed ahead of the busy summer season.”
