On the land
Upcoming volunteer tree Planting Days with Phillip Island Landcare Group

PLANTING indigenous trees and shrubs is a key part of what Landcare do, and the group loves to welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities to participate.  Phillip Island Landcare Group (PILG) work together to make Phillip Island a biodiverse, healthy landscape which provides shelter and food for native animals, as well as improving water quality and preventing land degradation.

Tree planting is not only beneficial to the land and wildlife, but also to you! These planting days are a great way to spend time with your family and friends, to explore new areas which you normally wouldn’t have access to (which can offer some spectacular views!), you’ll get out in nature, get your hands dirty, work on your fitness, and of course enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling you get knowing what a difference your help has made to the land for future generations.

Phillip Island Landcare Group holds many tree planting days every year throughout late Autumn to early Spring. Most plantings run from 10 am-1 pm and finish with a delicious BBQ lunch with great company. This year’s planting calendar includes the following dates:

  • Saturday, June 7: Kate Darling and John Fields
  • Saturday, July 12:  Special Family planting - Whale festival 9.30 am start - Phillip Island Rec Reserve
  • Thursday, July 24:  Phillip Island Rec Reserve
  • Sunday, July 27:  Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, Ventnor
  • Saturday, August 2: Kate Darling and Johns Fields
  • Saturday, August 16: Phillip Island Rec Reserve

Please see the full 2025 activity calendar for all the details at  www.phillipislandlandcare.org.au and let the team know if you can make it along.
