Inverloch Jazz Festival the perfect excuse for a coastal escape

WINTER is in full swing and so is Inverloch with the Inverloch Jazz Festival about to brighten-up the Bass Coast over three days and nights from August 1 to August 3.

With 40 bands and 200 artists across all jazz styles, big band, bebop, Latin, swing and funk the Inverloch Jazz Festival promises a big weekend of top class entertainment for jazz lovers and jazz newcomers alike.

The Streeton Court Big Band gets things jumping at The Hub on Friday evening followed by Mark Morand’s Great Composers tribute to Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Harold Arlen.

Up at the Warrawee Club you will find Pipes, Chasing the Moon and the Arandu Band.

The Royal Australian Navy Big Band will have you wide awake Saturday morning from 11am at The Hub followed by Anita Harris and Friends, Whisky ‘n Ice, Shirazz, Firefly Horns, Sarah Maclaine’s Jazz n’ Champagne and repeat performances by the Arandu Band, Streeton Court Big Band and Mark Morand’s Great Composers (2).

Over at the Warrawee Club look for Ladies Be Good, Geoff Kluke Quartet, Cul De Sac, Deep South Brass, Mango Juice Latin, Bird Conference, Hello January, G-Tano and Dancing Qualia.

The RSL will have the Black Notes Trio, Ruby Glynn Quartet, Juxtaposed, Jan and Tonic, Lee Jones Quintet, Ron Anderson Trio, Jackson Wade Band, Well Versed Harris Duo, Todd Sidney Trio and the Josh Fotopoulos Trio.

Not to be missed at the Inverloch Bowls Club will be Corella Trio, Bird Conference, Jazz Notes with Stuart Cardell, Primary Colours Trio, Pipes, Merri Creek Jazz Band, Deep South Brass, Chantelle and the Cat Cartel, Juxtaposed and Syncopaths.

A church service and Salvation Army Big Band at The Hub will provide the perfect start to your Sunday morning followed by the South Gippsland Concert Band.

The Teen Town Quintet and Hello January can be found at the Warrawee Club, the Jackson Wade Band at the RSL, and repeat performances from some of the weekend’s best at the Inverloch Bowls Club.
