THE My Community Library in San Remo and Phillip Island Contemporary Exhibition Space launched their collaborative Art Exhibition on Saturday afternoon, officially opened by Cr Rochelle Halstead.
The artworks of Gabriele Jenkins, Iveta Nagyova, Karen Preston and Stacey Shine will exhibit in the library space over the next three months to help stimulate public interest in creativity and originality.
Artist Stacey Shine recently became a member of PICES and shared that she rarely exhibits her work, “I paint because I love the creative result, and I enjoy teaching the technique of art through her studio on Phillip Island, but it is nice having my pieces displayed – it is encouraging.”
“To develop such texture in my paintings, I have actually recycled face masks – because it is better for them to be used in a painting of the ocean rather than washed up in the sea,” said Stacey.
Stacey’s work showcases colour and texture that is inspiring for every person visiting the library, including the children that can share in the work thanks to the Myli and PICES collaboration.
Branch Manager Jessica Berry and PICES President Sandra Peeters have been talking of this Art Exhibition since 2019 and on Saturday afternoon their vision came to fruition.
“I am so happy we can share the work of local artists within the library space, inspire the children’s creativity and inspire emerging artists within Bass Coast.”
The library will provide an exhibition of new artwork every three months, allowing space for more PICES members to showcase their talent.
