Scott Walker’s songs to take stage once again at Archies Creek

Four singers and a band with the task of sounding like a “mini orchestra” will bring Scott Walker’s music to Archies Creek on Sunday, October 25.
‘The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore: The Songs of Scott Walker’ will show his hits with the Walker Brothers, and also some of the less familiar corners of his solo career.
And it all began with a fan.
Promoter Lorena Miguelez approached musician Stephen Hadley after Walker’s death in 2019, wanting to put together a tribute to an artist whose music meant so much to her.
“He was very important in a period of time in my life,” she said.
“I have loved his music for many years.”
Miguelez said she felt someone needed to acknowledge his work, so she asked Hadley to help.
The show has since been performed several times, but Hadley said these October performances would be its first outing since 2022.
“We just picked the singers, and I picked the band, and we sort of just gave it a shot. And it was a lot of fun,” he said.
“So we thought we’d do it again.”
Rob Snarski, Dave Graney, Moogy and Dave Bowers will each sing five songs.
And the singers have helped shape the selection, choosing material that reflects their own interests in Walker’s music catalogue.
Bowers was drawn to the “No Regrets” era, while Hadley said Graney and Snarski would tackle some of the more obscure material.
Behind them, Hadley will play bass alongside drummer Clare Moore, trumpeter Jack Howard, Shane Reilly on pedal steel guitar and pianist Bruce Haymes.
Walker’s recordings often featured sweeping orchestral arrangements, which the smaller ensemble will interpret in its own way.
Hadley described the performance as “a bunch of singers sort of just having a go at it and us trying to be like a mini orchestra”.
Presented by Luna Live, the concert will be held on the outside stage, with doors opening at 2.30pm and the show starting at 3pm.
