Female players demonstrate high-quality skill

1 min read

FOR Round 5 of the Gippsland Soccer League, the majority of Leongatha’s teams headed over to Newhaven to take on the Phillip Island Breakers. Unfortunately, it was not to be Leongatha’s day with all away teams succumbing to their strong opponents. However, there were many positives to take out of the day.

The U12 and U15 girls’ teams continue to develop as both teams replicated training exercises on the pitch, and new players continue to impress with their perseverance. Both teams are still recruiting new players and actively encouraging any junior girls to come along and try a training session.

The U17S Blue team went into their match with a significant number of players away, but determination and teamwork proved a considerable challenge for their opponents.

The senior women’s match was an excellent example of the quality of female football in the league, as the grand final rematch from last season saw chances from both halves, but ultimately, a dominant Phillip Island took home the win.

A shout out to the Under 17s White team who played at home against Wonthaggi United and secured their first win of the season. Congratulations team!
