PHILLIP Island Football Netball Club congratulates Olivia Holmes on her A grade debut and playing an amazing game against strong opposition, as well as playing her first game for Gippsland Power in the Under 18’s girl’s side; an amazing effort in her first year of football to make it all the way to a representative side.
Phillip Island B Grade put in a strong effort against Cora Lynn on Saturday at Cowes Recreation Reserve. Despite a close start, Cora Lynn pulled ahead in the second half, taking the win 42–34.
Abbey McCaughan and Mieke White worked well in the goal circle, while Anthea Bennett, Sophie Gysberts, Sophia Hungerford and Steph Krainer held strong in defence all game. Jarah White, Ellie Hennessy and Matilda McKenna brought great energy through the midcourt.

Then, in a thrilling home game, the U17 netball team faced a challenge against the top team, Cora Lynn. The match was a testament to the team's resilience and determination, showcasing their skills and teamwork throughout the game.
Phillip Island found themselves down by four goals at halftime, facing a tough battle to regain control. However, the team demonstrated spirit in the third quarter, rallying together to close the gap and mount a strong comeback.
Piper and Jasira stood out as the best players on the court, making significant contributions both offensively and defensively. Aisha and Ava were strong in goals, displaying composure under pressure and consistently finding the net. Ellie played a pivotal role in the centre, driving the ball forward and linking play effectively.
On the defensive end, Olivia was a force in goal defense, supported by Tilly in the goalkeeper position, who made some crucial saves. Jasira excelled in wing defense, displaying agility and tactical awareness, while Kate stepped up admirably from the U15S to bolster the wing defense as well.
Piper, serving as a dependable wing attack, created scoring opportunities and maintained the team's momentum.
Despite their efforts, they ultimately fell short, finishing the match with a narrow defeat, the final score being 36-38.
And congratulations to Adele Hecker and Aisha Hibbert on their wins today at Netball Victoria Association Championships in 15 and under and 17 and under, respectively.
A shout out to Abi Derham, too, who played in 15 and Under reserves and came away runners-up.
