Kez and Lou share glorious milestone at Korumburra Bena

1 min read

LOYAL Giants Kerryn ‘Kez’ Gow and Louise ‘Lou’ McMeekin enjoyed a rare double milestone, each notching up senior netball game 350 in Korumburra Bena’s thumping home D Grade win over Warragul Industrials on Saturday.

With Kez dividing her time between centre and goal defence and Lou as goal keeper, the Giants triumphed by 24 goals.

Both have featured in multiple premierships for the club, with Kez having played a couple of seasons in A Grade and Lou making it as high as B Grade.

Besides their substantial on court contributions, they have coached and held committee positions for the Giants.

Both are always around the netball courts helping out, with Kez equally at home as team manager or first aider and never missing a chance to cheer on other players, especially the juniors.

“Her energy on and off the court is amazing and contagious and the younger generation looks up to her,” Giants secretary Shay Walker said.

Kez continues to be a competitive force on court and can play in any position, often stepping in and supporting other grades when required.

“She plays a mean game, never gives up and fights right until the end,” Shay said.

Lou also loves her netball, often being there from the start of the day until the end, supporting the juniors, including helping with NetSetGo.

She also supports other grades as team manager or first aider and is an enthusiastic supporter on the sidelines.

Shay praised the strength of Lou’s own game and what she brings to the Giants’ defence.

“She’s always mentoring her teammates in a positive and energetic way,” she added.

Lou is also a keen fundraiser for the club.

“What makes this milestone even better is that Kerryn and Louise are the best of friends,” Korumburra Bena B Grade coach Ange Williams said of the joint 350 game celebration, having previously coached the pair to back-to-back premierships.
