Knights draw in second last round before finals

IN THE second last round of the regular playing season, Leongatha Knight’s women’s team travelled to Trafalgar to play a second v third on the ladder bout.

A glaring sun made for tough playing conditions on Trafalgar’s large pitch with the home team capitalising on the width for a well-placed attack from their number 16 scoring the opening goal early in the game.

The Knights were temporarily thrown off kilter but soon regained their attacking momentum, challenging Trafalgar’s composed defence.

A free kick taken by Trafalgar’s number 8 scored a beautiful second goal for the home team and saw them lead with the advantage at half time.

The Knights returned to the pitch for the second half with focus and determination. A sensational battle in their attacking third resulted in a composed goal from captain Bernie Fitzgerald who celebrated her 50th game with the club this round. A subsequent delightful goal from forward Amaya Sande saw the game conclude with a well-deserved draw for the Knights who fought hard in the second half to regain their momentum.
