Newhaven College finish first in the AusCycling series

NEWHAVEN College Mountain Bike Academy riders wrapped up the 2025 AusCycling Schools Mountain Bike Series in style last weekend, with a double header in Castlemaine and Bendigo.

More than 16 students from Years 1 to 10 made the journey, facing vastly different conditions across the two rounds. Saturday at Castlemaine delivered sunshine and heat, while Sunday in Bendigo brought persistent rain and thick mud that tested both skill and stamina.

Despite the challenges, Newhaven College again proved its strength, topping the overall leaderboard to finish first in the AusCycling series. The result is especially impressive given the Bass Coast’s lack of local mountain biking facilities.

Among many podium finishes across the season, standout results came from the following riders who secured overall series division titles:

Lucy Thompson – first place overall (third year running)

* Austin Mitchell – third place overall

* Evelyn McCabe – third place overall

* Sophia Hardy – third place overall

Newhaven College is thrilled with the performance of all the competitors in the MTB program. Their results would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of their families and MTB community.
