IN THE weekend of March 9 – 10, the Phillip Island Boardriders Club (PIBC) sent their high-performance team to the Australian Boardriders Battle (ABB) at Burleigh Heads.
Team Captain Ash Easton led the team of Carl Wright, Joe Van Dijk, Sage Goldsbury, Tate Russell and Sam Patterson, to compete at big and burley conditions.
After 10 years of the ABB being held at Newcastle, this year saw a different format beginning with a downhill run, then a rock jump, a wave and then a huge run back up the Burleigh hill to the tag spot.
With a support team of Team Captain Jake Eisen, Board Caddy Billy Easton, Treasurer and Media Jo O’Reilly Stubbs, Committee member Geoff Russell, and general team support Zoe Adams, Lenny Wright, Irene Wright, Phil Wright and Andrew Stubbs.
In the weeks leading up to the event PIBC also created a custom designed and printed limited run of t-shirt to raise funds.
Created by our former Club Champion Josh Rush and Founder of Small Business Heavy Press, Screen Printing studio based in Northern NSW. Josh collaborated with designer Chris Honey to come up with a special limited-edition tee.
With incredible surfing en masse the Phillip Island Boardriders Club team finished in round one, against the 42 best Boardriders clubs across Australia.
