Phillip Island is the place to be with the return of the MotoGP

PHILLIP Island is revving up the MotoGP™ this weekend, October 17 to 19, at the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

The MotoGP™ Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2025 will once again bring tens of thousands of fans to the island for three exhilarating days of racing, live music, and family-friendly entertainment. Highlights include the local favourite Community Day, where Bass Coast residents can enjoy free entry, and the Cowes Entertainment Precinct, transforming Thompson Avenue into a hub of music and fun.

Bass Coast Mayor Cr Rochelle Halstead is looking forward to the event, as the biggest sporting event in regional Victoria, the MotoGP™ is expected to attract up to 100,000 attendees over the three days.

“Phillip Island is the place to be in October, and the MotoGP is the headline event of Bass Coast Shire Council’s events program. The event injects millions into our economy, supports local jobs and hospitality, and showcases Phillip Island on the international stage,” Cr Halstead said.

“Phillip Island has proudly hosted the Australian MotoGP for nearly 30 years at the world-famous Grand Prix Circuit, and the celebrations spill into Cowes with our family-friendly street party. Last year, the Cowes MotoGP™ Entertainment Precinct drew over 6000 people, and this year we’re ready to make it even bigger.”

“And with the $8 million Federal Government investment into the upcoming Cowes streetscape works, Phillip Island is being firmly placed on the map as a destination where world-class events meet world-class spaces.”

A community day will be held again on Friday, October 17, offering free general admission tickets to Bass Coast residents. To receive a complimentary ticket, present your proof of residency at any gate on the day or avoid the queues by collecting your tickets in advance from Gate 1 on Thursday, October 16.

Thompson Avenue in Cowes will remain the entertainment hub and will be filled with live music and entertainment with the BMW Superscreen showing race footage, rider interviews and movies throughout the weekend to keep the party going. Highlights include performances from Nashville’s World on Tour, Rehash Cover Band, and Oz Rock Express.
