Phillip Island Tenpin Bowling & Entertainment Centre celebrates 20 years

OVER the weekend, Phillip Island Tenpin Bowling & Entertainment Centre marked a remarkable milestone – 20 years since the bowling alley first opened its doors in September 2005. What began as a converted go-kart track has grown into one of the island’s most loved family and community venues.

The celebration was packed with fun, laughter and nostalgia, as the centre’s history and future came together in one unforgettable night. The original owners, Steve Davie and Ritchie Laing, joined current owners Craig Holmes and Jeremy Westaway, who have proudly run the centre since 2008. Together, they recreated the iconic 2008 handshake photo to symbolise the journey from past to present.

Guests were treated to a party atmosphere complete with balloons, a giant “20” helium centrepiece, a spectacular birthday cake shaped like bowling pins and a ball, and even custom biscuits decorated with the PI Tenpin logo. The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the live performance by The Laing Brothers – Jim, Ritchie and Darren – who had the crowd rocking all evening with music, energy and laughter.

Reflecting on the centre’s growth, Steve and Ritchie remarked on how far the business has come since its early days and praised what it has become – a thriving hub for locals and visitors alike.

For Craig, who has been involved since day one, and Jeremy, who started working at the centre in 2007 before stepping into ownership alongside Craig the following year, the celebration was a proud milestone.

“This place has always been about more than just bowling. It’s about community, connection, and creating memories. To celebrate 20 years with so many familiar faces, including the people who started it all, was really special,” said Jeremy.

The night was also an opportunity to thank the dedicated PI Tenpin team – past and present – whose energy, warmth and hard work have made the centre what it is today. Staff members are not just employees, but part of the PI Tenpin family, and their role in welcoming guests, running events and creating a fun, inclusive space has been central to the centre’s success.

Today, PI Tenpin Bowling & Entertainment Centre is known not only for bowling, laser tag and arcade fun, but also as an exciting venue for live music, celebrations and functions. From birthday parties and school groups to community events and corporate nights out, the centre continues to prove that it’s a place where people come together.
