IT WAS a busy end to the school holidays for the 27 SGB swimmers competing at the Traralgon Doc Shop Cup on Sunday at the Regional Aquatic Centre.
The majority of the team racing were competing for qualifying times at next month’s short course Country Championships, and there were several happy swimmers, adding more swims to their event list.
The longer distance events were run as mixed events, so swimmers got to race against their training partners to see who got to claim bragging rights.
Coach Dylan was pleased with their efforts.
“They have swum really well and I’m really looking forward to watching them compete against regional Victoria’s best in Bendigo in a couple of weeks.”
Several SGB swimmers ended up in the hot heats, where the winner of the heat won a prize. Fiercely contested, especially by sisters Bel and Emily Croatto, who finished with three-second PBs and 0.4 of a second between them.
Next week is the last chance to swim a qualifying time for the Country Championships, with the club hosting a home meet at the pool in Leongatha on Sunday.
