The annual Coronet Bay Fun Run raises awareness for Pancreatic Cancer

CORONET Bay welcomed over 50 runners for the Coronet Bay Fun run/walk on Sunday, November 2, with runners, walkers, children and pets taking part in the three- or five-kilometre run.

An annual event organised by the Coronet Bay Community Association Committee, where John (Secretary) and Christian (Treasurer) were an integral part of bringing it all together.

Councillor Jan Thompson opened the Fun Run and asked all participants and volunteers to take a moment to honour and celebrate the life and contribution of the late Ian Cole, who had coordinated the Fun Run from 2014 until 2024.

“Ian’s dedication reflected what this event is really about - participation, connection and pride in our community,” said Jan.

Before Ian’s long commitment to organising the Fun Run, Laurie Black ran it for 16 years and started the event.

This year, the Fun Run event was supported by the Dare to Hope Foundation to raise awareness for Pancreatic Cancer. “Fun Run participants had the option to donate directly to the worthwhile organisation,” said John.

“The weather was warm, and the Fun Run ran smoothly thanks to the help of the many volunteers. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!”
