The Breakers held on for a gutsy win

IT was an exciting game for the Breakers with Immy Bradford playing her 100th match. She was up and about early, combining with Tayla Stahl and Ella Cargill to create space and movement in the forward line. Immy was first to take advantage, three minutes into to the match with Stahl also nailing a set shot midway through the quarter.

The Breakers took the momentum into the second quarter with some fantastic play, creating plenty of scoring opportunities; however, they were almost too unselfish in looking for better options and didn’t capitalise on their dominance of the quarter.
Mornington, on the other hand, were able to score from one of the few times the ball made it past Katie Cornish and Grace Hope at half back, closing the gap going into half time.
The third quarter was very evenly contested, with both midfields working hard. Cloe Booth was able to create space where there was none to drive the ball forward, while Molloy Conroy and Annie Dempsey had some great link ups down the clubrooms wing.

The match was very much there to be won going into the last quarter, with the Breakers knowing they couldn’t ease off.

While Mornington had all of the play in the last quarter, the Breakers' defence held up with strong marking from Vic Jaskula and clearing kicks from Tayla Stahl, keeping the visitors at bay.

Final Score: Breakers 2.5-17 def Mornington 1.1-7
Goals: Tayla Stahl, Immy Bradford
Best: Molly Conroy, Cloe Booth, Annie Dempsey, Imogen Bradford, Jenna Russo, and Katie Cornish.

This week, the Breakers welcome Red Hill to Dalyston Sunday at 12 pm.
