THE Victorian Micro Groms Cup, presented by Surf Better Now, is set to return to the Surf Coast, offering the next generation of surf stars an opportunity to surf against their peers and experience their first surf competition.
Held at Torquay Point on November 8 and 9, the event will have divisions from under eight parent-assisted all the way to the Under 14 boys and girls divisions.
This family-friendly grommet event is all about fun, stoke, and good vibes — giving young surfers a taste of the excitement and structure of a professionally run surfing competition, all in a supportive and action-packed environment.
Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson is excited to see the next generation of surfers get an opportunity to surf in their first-ever event.
“This event is the perfect springboard into the world of surf competition and an important step in our development pathway,” said Robertson.
“It’s all about good vibes — having fun, meeting new mates, and catching great waves. I can’t wait to see the next generation of surfers charging and enjoying an epic weekend in the water.”
Surfers to watch across the weekend include current Victorian U14 Champions, Estella Carbonelli (Jan Juc) and Teddy Robertson (Torquay), along with past champions Olive Robertson (Jan Juc) and Sani Hellman (Ulladulla, NSW).
Phillip Island groms include Scarlett Rennie (Phillip Island, U14 Girls), Max Anagnostou (Phillip Island, U12 Boys) and Eddie Maier (Phillip Island, U12 Boys).
Competitors will also walk away from the weekend with heaps of prizes from event partners S2 Adventure, Ritual Vision, Mizu Drink Bottles, Leus Towles and Dakine, along with plenty of stoke heading into summer!
