Still time to support Red Cross raffle

There’s still time to support the Leongatha Red Cross Unit’s Father’s Day raffle, with $380 worth of prizes on offer ahead of this Saturday’s draw.

Tickets cost $2 and are available at Leongatha IGA and Leongatha Newsagency until Saturday, September 5.

The raffle will be drawn at Leongatha Newsagency at 11am that day, with proceeds supporting Red Cross emergency services.

First prize includes a $100 dairy voucher donated by AG Warehouse and $50 worth of treats.

Second prize features two sets of tools and a bag, valued at a combined $130, while third prize includes a $75 meat voucher from Hallston Valley Farm and $25 worth of vegetables.

And the best part is, there’s still time.

Volunteers will sell tickets at Leongatha IGA or Leongatha Newsagency on Wednesday, September 2, and Friday, September 4, before the final opportunity on Saturday morning.

The fundraiser follows the Leongatha Red Cross Unit’s annual general meeting, which was held at the Leongatha RSL on Thursday, July 30.

Les Ridge presided over the meeting, where Lois Young was re-elected as president and Wendy Evans was appointed the vice-president.

Noreen Williams will continue as treasurer, supported by assistant treasurer Marion Dewar.

Cathy Curwood was re-elected secretary alongside assistant secretary Elaine Gardiner.

But Ms Curwood also had a personal milestone to celebrate, receiving a badge recognising 10 years of service with the Red Cross.

The Leongatha unit raises money throughout the year from a range of fundraising events to support vulnerable people and Red Cross services.

Leongatha Red Cross wishes to emphasise that new members are always welcome.
