IT WAS an historic day at the Meeniyan Dumbalk United (MDU) home ground as local netball legend Jodie "Odie" Arnup guided her team to a thrilling victory in the Mid Gippsland Football Netball League (MGFNL) C Grade Grand Final.

Playing in front of a passionate home crowd the red-and-blue community witnessed an unforgettable chapter in club history as MDU defeated a fierce and determined Hill End to capture the ultimate premiership prize.

For Arnup the sensational victory marked a massive career milestone, securing her fifth premiership flag with the same club.

The grand final triumph capped off an extraordinary few weeks for the highly decorated champion, who has firmly cemented her place as an icon of local netball.

Arnup only just recently celebrated her milestone 150th senior game in the red and blue a true testament to her incredible longevity, dedication, and enduring passion.

Her stellar individual season was also recognised on the league stage at the recent MGFNL awards night, where she polled exceptionally well to finish runner-up, placing second overall in the C Grade Netball Best and Fairest count.

Arnup is certainly no stranger to grand final success, having previously tasted ultimate glory with back-to-back C Grade premierships in 2022 and 2023, as well as contributing heavily to the club's future as a premiership-winning junior coach.

Over those 150+ senior games Arnup has accumulated a whole lot of netball memories, shared big wins, endured tough losses, and enjoyed plenty of laughs along the way.

Known for bringing unmatched experience and fierce determination Arnup’s team-first attitude has made her a cornerstone of the MDU netball program.

While the history books will record the accolades and flags, it is the countless hours spent training that truly define her legacy.
