AusNet calls for ideas to help vulnerable energy customers
Wonthaggi-based Mycelia Renewables won the grant earlier this year and applications for the next round close on Sunday November 1.
LOCAL organisations with ideas to help vulnerable energy customers are invited to apply for AusNet’s $30,000 Helping Our Mission for Equity (HOME) Grant.
The grant will back innovative projects that tackle barriers, strengthen inclusion and deliver lasting benefits for customers and communities across AusNet’s electricity distribution network, which takes in Bass Coast and South Gippsland.
Previously known as the Vulnerability Research Grant, the HOME Grant reflects a broader focus on advancing equity, supporting customers and communities and identifying practical solutions to community challenges.
AusNet executive general manager of compliance, risk and corporate affairs Amanda Robertson said the grant would support ideas that create meaningful, real-world change.
“We’re looking for ideas that respond to community needs and offer practical solutions that make a genuine difference in people’s lives,” Ms Robertson said.
“The HOME Grant is an opportunity to explore new ideas, deepen our understanding of customer needs and help shape a more inclusive energy future.”
Previous recipients have tackled some of Victoria’s key energy equity challenges, including energy upgrades for rental properties, inclusive communications, support for older Victorians navigating the energy transition and improved electricity services for people with disability.
Past recipients include Mycelia Energy Collective, RMIT University, Council on the Ageing Victoria and Yarra Energy Foundation.
Wonthaggi-based Mycelia Renewables, which runs the Mycelia Energy Collective, received the grant earlier this year for a pilot project investigating the barriers that stop renters, landlords and property managers installing energy-efficiency upgrades, with a focus on renters in San Remo, Wonthaggi, Korumburra and Foster.
Applications close on Sunday November 1 and can be submitted to research@ausnetservices.com.au, with more information at me.ausnetservices.com.au/HOME-Grant.
