Bass Valley welcomes new acting principal and his four-legged friend

BASS Valley Primary School has a new leader at the helm, and he’s already making waves — alongside his loyal support dog, Chuck.

Aaron Bickery, the school’s new Acting Principal, joins Bass Valley from Tulliallan Primary School, one of Victoria’s largest and highest-achieving primary schools. Despite being in the role for only a short time, Aaron has made a significant impact, quickly winning over students, staff, and families with his approachable style and commitment to celebrating both student achievement and staff efforts.

“It is an incredible school,” Aaron said. “The facilities here are something that you would find at a private school. The sporting results are amazing for a small rural school, but the academic results and teaching practice are just as impressive.”

Aaron has been particularly encouraged by Bass Valley’s recent NAPLAN results for Year 3 and 5, describing them as evidence of a school-wide commitment to quality teaching and learning. “The staff’s instructional model and the students’ willingness to learn have been very effective,” he said.

With Chuck often by his side, Aaron is looking forward to continuing the school’s strong tradition of excellence while building on its reputation for community spirit and outstanding results.

Bass Valley families say they are excited about the energy and fresh perspective Aaron brings — and they’re already fond of Chuck too.
