Newhaven College Celebrates 2023 VCE Results

Dux of Newhaven College, Tess Papas, celebrated an exceptional ATAR of 97.75, placing her in the top 2.25% of Victoria at the announcement of VCE results today. Tess was closely followed by Saffi Campbell-Walker, who received an ATAR of 97.45.

Newhaven College Principal, Tony Corr, congratulated all this year’s VCE students on an incredible result. “We are pleased nearly half (46%) of our students were placed in the top 30% of the state. In addition, 15.8% of our students achieved an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) of above 80.”

Other high achieving students with ATAR scores of above 80, placing them in the top 20% of the state, were William Murphy, Max Brown, Sienna McFarlane, Oscar Healey, Yvette Dhar, Willamina, Archibald-Donohue, Leigh Pouw and Alana Vanderstaay.
“It has been a delight to accompany this wonderful group of Year 12s on their journey at Newhaven.

We are proud of the many pathways our students take post school – whether that be university, apprenticeships, vocational studies or employment. We wish them the very best of luck as they set off on their life beyond our school.”

“Special recognition to Year 11 student Sienna Michie who had the extraordinary achievement of the perfect study score of 50 in two subjects – Art Making & Exhibiting and Biology. William Murphy also achieved a perfect study score of 50 in Music Performance – Contemporary. To achieve a study score of 50 is the highest possible result in a subject and an exceptional effort by both these students.”

“As we recognize our Year 12s VCE results it is important to remember academic marks are only one area of success for any individual. Our students have many exceptional gifts and talents that may not be reflected in their VCE performance but will serve them well into the future. We are very pleased with all of our students’ achievements in a cross section of areas during their time at our school.”
