Vote for Specialist School film ‘Together We Grow’

A HEARTWARMING documentary from the students at South Gippsland Specialist School has made it into the finalist category in a short film festival.

The school are hoping to get as many votes as possible this week for their film in the Focus on Ability, Short Film Festival – an international festival.

The theme of the Specialist School is ‘Together We Grow’ and the film centers around this concept, with students demonstrating and voicing different ways of growing.

It is the first time the school has entered the film festival and Linda Slabik, Education Support and film maker highlighted it was written pretty much by the senior students and it’s pretty special that they were able to voice how they feel about the school.

The students also poignantly pointed out to Linda that they help the teachers grow too, to which she commented she couldn’t have agreed more.

With only 39 entries in their specific category, Linda is hopeful that with enough votes the school has a very good chance of winning.

Screening of the films will be held in every state nationally and at the Crown Towers Melbourne on Tuesday, September 5.

Six of the students involved in the film, together with Linda and Principal Heather Braden have been invited to attend the screening.

Voting for the film is open now and will close on Tuesday, August 22. To view and vote for ‘Together we Grow’ go to www.focusonability.com.au/FOA/films/3143.html.
