Focusing on the ratepayers

1 min read

I REFER to Michael Giles “Comment” in (March 19) Sentinel Times.

Under Clare Le Serve we have a vast improvement since the last mayor resigned. Finally, we can ask questions and we have a bit of transparency. Finally, we have less federal political issues, less climate change, less reconciliation and less virtue signalling.

Congratulations also to CEO Greg Box for getting out of the ivory tower and unlike his predecessor actually going out and speaking to ratepayers in this shire.

What we want is more on “roads, rates and rubbish” and all the things council should concentrate on. Of course we want a more centrist council that, as Michael Giles describes it, has “families, services, transparency and value for money at its core”. If you can actually find the money ... and I wish you good luck with that now that this State is broke.

And yes, we should have had a $5 million revamped arts centre with an aquatic centre on Phillip Island as long promised, but unfortunately large egos took over this thought process.

Are we happy – no!  But this is what we voted for - at least some of you did.

Time for a reset, rethink and a change.
