AS I grew up all the rainwater was caught, we had three tanks at the house, and overflow went to a machinery/tool shed. That overflow went to the cow shed, and that overflow went to a nearby dam.
Have a look around today’s huge buildings, car parks, roads, etc., rain just goes down the gutters to the sea, sometimes to a reservoir, and then we pay for what we use.
Very few people have a vegetable garden the blocks are too small, kids have to go to parks to run and play, and dogs are walked around the streets like the kids – “no room to play in their yards”.
How times have changed.
One elderly friend said, “We eat outside, and the toilets are all inside.”
Ha ha, how true.
