REGARDING “On Your Bike” by Bruce Wardley on September 2. Has Council considered the opportunity of safely linking Cape Paterson to the Wonthaggi/Inverloch bike trail by connecting the north end of Fulton Road to the south end of Boundary Road? From there, it’s a very short ride along a back road to the bike trail.
This would require less than two kilometres of bike trail across farmland along existing property boundaries. I’ve heard that there may even be an existing easement. Bikes would be diverted off the Cape Paterson/Wonthaggi Road. This would really open up safe family cycling between Cape Paterson, Wonthaggi and Inverloch.
The funds for this may come from a separate budget supporting cycling/fitness, etc. The roads budget is well overcommitted.
