VCE STUDENTS ticked off the longest and busiest exam on Tuesday, with Leongatha Secondary College students giving the English paper the thumbs up outside the town’s Recreation Reserve function space that is serving as an exam hall this year.

Bodhi Thomson raised his thumb for a Sentinel-Times snapshot, clearly pleased with the exam, while Caitlin Hibberson stopped for a chat.

“I really liked it,” she said of the paper, her study having prepared her well for its contents.

“I was nervous this morning, but now that it’s done I’m happy that it’s over,” Caitlin said, with General Maths, and Health and Human Development exams on Friday to prepare for.

Her other subjects are Sociology and Biology.

Ebony Dean and Matilda Hanily found they were well prepared for Tuesday’s English paper.

Ebony Dean and Matilda Hanily were also pleased with the English paper.

“I thought it was going to be a bit harder but it was fairly straight forward; I went in there open-minded, not really that stressed, so I think that helped a lot,” Ebony said.

General Maths and Health, and Human Development are next up for her, with PE and Geography being her other subjects.

Matilda declared the English paper a kind one.

While she was a bit nervous arriving in the morning, seeing the exam prompts put her at ease.

Although Matilda’s Art Making and Exhibiting exam is on Wednesday, just a day after English, she sits her final subject Visual Communications in about two and a half weeks, with Psychology and General Maths her other subjects.

She has a busy first week and is happy to have longer to prepare for Visual Communications, a subject that involves some complex theory.

While the students Sentinel-Times caught up with just after the English exam found it easier than anticipated, thorough preparation undoubtedly played a key part.

“They’ve done a world of work and they’re a fantastic cohort,” Assistant Principal Tanya Chalmers said.
