CELEBRATING their first 100 days of school Foundation Year students at Wonthaggi P.S participated in making crowns and completed art and craft activities before parading around the school where parents, staff and students cheered them on in support.
With a focus on numeracy, the students were also required to bring '100 things' to school in a snap lock bag such as pasta, gems and Lego pieces.
“I’m really proud of what they’ve done and achieved in their learning journey,” said foundation teacher Jo Ross.
“They’ve reached all the milestones,” said Mrs Ross.
“Writing and reading words independently, counting to 20, identifying coins, social and emotional skills, learning to share and take turns, and working co-operatively together.
“They’ve made friends and have a high regard for each other.”
Mrs Ross said in their first 100 days of school the children have learned the school values of being a learner and being safe and respectful.
“Children these days have a busy schedule,” said Mrs Ross.
“They do a lot after school as well as sport and weekend activities.
“Parents are continually on the go with a lot to juggle.”
Wonthaggi P.S. welcomed 38 new Foundation Year students in 2025 from Wonthaggi, Cape Paterson and Dalyston.
