SOUTH Gippsland Shire Council celebrated the work of its local community groups at a Community Grants Presentation Night, last Wednesday, August 13, where 23 successful applicants were awarded funding to support a diverse range of projects across our region.

A total of $134,557.00 in funding was distributed, contributing to a combined project value of $464,032.60. These projects span vital areas of community development and were awarded under three key categories:

  • Developing Community Assets
  • Building Community Capacity and Culture
  • Strengthening Community Sport

Community Grants are awarded twice per year to community, volunteer and not-for-profit organisations and aim to support community initiatives, projects and events that contribute to the South Gippsland region.

Round one of South Gippsland Shire Council’s 2025/26 Community Grants are now open with applications closing Sunday 31 August. For more information and to apply for a Community Grant, please visit: www.southgippsland.vic.gov.au/grants

South Gippsland Shire Council Mayor, John Schelling, was delighted to host the presentation event.

“Congratulations to the successful recipients of this round of Community Grants. We’re proud to invest in projects that make South Gippsland a stronger, more inclusive place to live, work and learn,” said Cr Schelling.

“If you are a community, volunteer or not-for-profit organisation who would like to apply for a Community Grant, now is the perfect time, with round one taking applications until 31 August.
